Deletion / Archiving of IDOCs

There is no special deletion program for IDocs.
Use the archiving programs. IDoc is a separate archiving class. The following programs are available:

1. Archive RSEXARCA and RSEXARCB (as of Release 3.0C)
2. Delete RSEXARCD
3. Read archiveRSEXARCR
4. Restore RSEXARCL

RSEXARCB is similar to RSEXARCA except for the selection screen. The selection options for RSEXARCB are designed for periodic scheduling.

The Idoc archiving is checked against the status. The statuses which can be archived and those that cannot be archived are stored in the “Status maintenance” table. You can change the standard settings. Menu path: Area menu “WEDI”, control, status maintenance.

I reviewed IDOC process and it really helps me to understand the whole process.
I am looking to develop business case for IDOCs archiving and deleting from the SAP database.
What is standard process to archive and delete IDOCs ?
Is it any SAP recommended procedure for archiving of IDOCs ?

Does anyone know of any documentation for program
RSEXARCB – it isn’t that obvious and there is nothing in the SAP help for it.

    Patrick,
I believe you already have done some research on this and may know this already.
